Sharon gave the gift of sight to two North Carolina women

Portrait of Donor Sharon

My mother Sharon was 69 years old when she became a cornea and tissue donor. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. A month before she passed my mother and father celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

On Feb 11th, 2020 while driving home from a family vacation my mom started to choke and went into cardiac arrest. She was too tired to recover from it. My mother had many underlying health issues, so we never spoke about organ donation. When the representative from HonorBridge called me, she was so kind and so informative about cornea and tissue donation. My mother was the type of person that would help anyone she could. It just made sense to me that she would donate what she could.

My name is Shannon and I am the daughter of Sharon. I have made it my mission in life to educate everyone I can on organ, tissue and cornea donation. As of now my mother was able to donate her cornea and give sight to two females in North Carolina. I would want the females to know that they have the corneas of a loving female with a heart of gold.
