Multicultural Donation Resources

Although each ethnic and cultural group has their own unique perspective on organ, eye and tissue donation, generosity and helping others in need are valued as important components of all communities.

The need for organ and tissue transplants and the shortage of donors affects people of all races, cultures and ethnic backgrounds. However, certain minority groups are more widely affected by the diseases that can cause the need for an organ transplant. Because these diseases are more common among minorities, they are more likely to need dialysis treatments - or kidney transplants. Although donation and transplantation can take place between individuals from different racial or ethnic groups, transplants have a higher likelihood of success when organs are matched between members of the same racial or ethnic backgrounds.

Do you want to help save lives in your community? The Decision Project is all about empowering people to make an educated and inspired decision about organ, eye, and tissue donation, and then share that decision with their family.
