Become a Friends for Life Ambassador

“I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.” ~ Maya Angelou

Are you a transplant recipient, donor family member, transplant candidate, or caregiver of a recipient who would like to tell others about the gift of life? If so, HonorBridge's Friends’ for Life Ambassador program may be right for you!

Our Friends for Life Ambassador program is a multi-tiered, donation advocacy opportunity. No matter your commitment level, we have a way for you to advocate for donation by sharing your story.

Our Ambassadors help register and educate fellow North Carolinians about donation by:

  • Sharing their story through written word, photos, and videos,
  • Serving as our eyes and ears in your community by identifying new, innovative ways to reach people with a pro-donation message,
  • Using social media as a donation-advocacy tool,
  • Participating in health fairs and community donor drives,
  • Reaching out to religious, social, and community groups

Tier One

This is an opportunity for those who have been touched by donation to share their story with no time commitment or background check required. To share your story, click here. You will find prompts to help best tell your story and an opportunity to upload a photo of yourself or the donor.

Tier Two

Those who are interested in taking their advocacy a step further than sharing their story are good Tier Two prospects. Tier Two Ambassadors are tasked to find opportunities in their communities and will be eligible to volunteer to participate in health fairs, donor drives and other similar events.

Anyone interested in this level must complete a background check prior to being trained. Once you have cleared a background check (this typically takes 10 days to 2 weeks to complete), you will receive a link to our online training video, downloadable Ambassador manual, and a commitment form. Once that is completed and you have submitted your commitment form, we will reach out and instruct you on how to get started!

Tier Three

If after completing your Tier 2 training, you think you might like to do some speaking engagements or even media, we hope you’ll consider taking the next step and attend one of our in-person Advocacy Symposiums. (Due to COVID-19, our Tier Three Advocacy Symposiums have been temporarily suspended but we are looking forward to virtual opportunities in 2022).

***We are currently focusing our resources in 15, strategically selected cities to make the biggest impact. Those areas are: Durham, Fayetteville, Garner, Greensboro, Greenville, Goldsboro, High Point, New Bern, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, Salisbury, Sanford, Smithfield, Thomasville, and Winston-Salem.

***If you are interested in sharing your story ONLY and not interested in attending events, a background check is not required. We love receiving stories to share and inspire others. You do not need to complete a background check if you only wish to do this.
