Quilt Square

Created in honor of Brantley Pearce

This quilt square is dedicated in the memory of my son, Brantley Scott Pearce.  Brantley and his best friend were killed in an automobile accident on August 28, 2010.  Brantley loved scuba diving; he was certified at the age of 10.  His last day was spent at the beach diving with his Dad and enjoying the ocean he loved so much with his best friends Miles, his girlfriend Kim, and her friend Kristen.  Later that night there was a tragic car accident and Brantley and Miles were killed.  Kim and Kristen were seriously injured.  Brantley loved life; he lived it to the fullest.  He was full of passion, everything he did, he did it full force.  His smile and his personality were larger than life.  Brantley impacted every life he came in contact with.  His death devastated many people, young and old.  He had just graduated from high school, was planning on attending college and had dreams of joining the U.S. Coast Guard.  His most favorite times were spent with his family, his girlfriend, and his friends.  He lived for the weekends, when he could ride 4 wheelers with his buddies and the beach doing what he loved most.  Brantley had a favorite saying “Everything happens for a reason”. Even though we will never know the reason for this tragedy we take comfort in knowing where he is spending eternity.  All of Brantley’s life was spent helping people, especially those less fortunate than him.  Now in his death he is still helping others thru the donation of eye, heart valves, tissue, and bone.  Brantley will always live on in our hearts and memories and now a part of him will live on in others.

We cry because he is gone, but we will always smile because he lived!!
